Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Pastor Johnson Avulete has disclosed that his recent award adjudging him as the Best Deputy Regional Minister for the country in 2019, has thrown a big challenge to him to continue to do more for the region in particular and the country as a whole.
Speaking in an interview with our newsteam, Hon. Avulete said even though he knows himself to be a workaholic, he was surprised at the honour done him, having been in office for barely nine (9) months as at December, 2019 when the award was announced and subsequently conferred on him.
On Sunday, 29th December, 2019, the Pan African Heroes Foundation in collaboration with the Bureau of Research on Governance, Commerce and Administration (BORGCA) named Pastor Johnson Avulete in the Presidential Globe African Heroes Honours’ Awards for 2019 as the Best Deputy Regional Minister for Ghana. The other recipients of similar awards included Hon. Simon Osei Mensah, Ashanti Regional Minister who took the Best Regional Minister Award with Hon. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Minister of Food and Agriculture, snatching the Best Sector Minister Prize.
Pastor Johnson Avulete said the honour done him is the Lord’s, explaining that it was for that reason that he dedicated the Award to God and the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo. According to him, even though the honour has thrown a big challenge to him in his political and social careers, he would continue to do his best for his region and country at large.
Five (5) clear days after the award, our newsteam monitored 291 comments on facebook, commending the Deputy Regional Minister not only for his hardwork but also for making his region proud. In one of such posts, Former Volta Regional Correspondent of Citi News, Mr. Felix Xedra Agbenyo described Pastor Johnson Avulete as the most listening Deputy Regional Minister he has so far met in the then Volta and now Volta and Oti Regions.
Hon. Avulete said he would continue to combine both his administrative duties with community visits alongside all activities that are geared towards the 2020 general elections. ‘It is going to be a very tedious work for us. We will not rest at all; we need to work hard to meet the needs of the people’, he pointed out.
Touching on the December 7 polls, the Deputy Regional Minister called for peace and tolerance among supporters of all the political parties, adding that the 2020 elections is not about war or insults but rather the issue of development.
He appealed to the chiefs and people of the Volta Region to support the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government to deliver on its mandate and promises to the good people of the region in particular and the country as a whole.
